Questions & Answers
-
What is a Private Residence Club?
A Private Residence Club is an increasingly popular way to own and enjoy resort real estate. Membership within a Private Residence Club is typically acquired on a fractional basis, where owners have the ability to customize their level of ownership to fit their needs. Private Residence Clubs are characterized by spacious, designer-appointed residences that provide the amenities and services of a world-class resort.
-
What are some of the advantages of choosing a Private Residence Club over whole ownership?
Endorsed by Robb Report, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times, this style of vacation home ownership significantly reduces the capital expense of purchasing a second home and eliminates the associated maintenance hassles, making ownership an excellent value proposition. Other Napa Valley real estate with comparable square footage and quality lists for millions of dollars—without the added benefits of renowned Auberge Resort services and amenities. This is the practical way to be immersed in a maintenance-free lifestyle unattainable anywhere else in the Napa Valley while creating a legacy experience for your family.
-
Is ownership in The Lodges at Calistoga Ranch a real estate interest?
Yes. You have real estate interest in the private equity Club. The Private Residence Club is wholly owned by the members and owns all of the land, buildings and Club assets.
-
When purchasing at The Lodges, do I purchase ownership in a specific Lodge?
To provide the most flexibility, Lodge Owners have access to all Lodges, which are similarly furnished and feature similar floor plans. With 23 Lodges, each enjoys a different setting with some perched on a hillside to afford breathtaking views while others are cloaked in the tree cover besides a stream. Each of the Lodges is uniquely staged to take full advantage of the bucolic natural landscape. Owners may request a specific residence and this request will be granted when possible, according to the Reservation Policies and Procedures.
-
Can my ownership share be resold?
Certainly. That having been said, many Lodge Owners see their share as a legacy to pass along to future generations. You may sell your fractional ownership interest by yourself; you may have the on-site real estate sales team sell it for you; or you may have another California real estate professional sell it for you, subject to the Calistoga Ranch Club Governance documents.

How flexible is the usage at Calistoga Ranch?
As real estate in California goes, ownership couldn’t be more flexible. You enjoy frequent access to the Lodges throughout the year. Lodge Owners can plan Napa Valley vacation time at Calistoga Ranch in three ways: Short Notice Use, Space Available Use and Planned Use.
- Planned Use - There are always times throughout the year when being here with family and friends will be a priority. For these special occasions, you are provided three weeks of Planned Use each year. These stays are scheduled based on your desired requests each year and a rotating priority number among Lodge Owners from year to year.
- Space Available Use - Space Available Use offers you another path to enjoying the Lodges as often as you wish, subject to availability. This is an ideal way to schedule visits. As soon as you use (or cancel) a Space Available Use, you can book another one. Owners may have one Space Available Use scheduled at any time.
- Short Notice Use - When you decide to visit The Lodges at Calistoga Ranch without planning ahead, the Short Notice Use is a popular option. Subject to availability of a Lodge, you may make as many Short Notice Use reservations as you wish, within seven days of your desired arrival date.
The Space Available and Short Notice Use are scheduled throughout the year on a first-come, first-reserved basis; with no limit to the total number of times you use them.
